"Breath of Angel" by Karyn Henley

The novel “Breath of Angel” by Karyn Henley was an excellent and well written novel. I found the language and imagery within the novel to be captivating and descriptive, but not to the point that the detail was overwhelming and boring. The descriptions added character to the novel as a whole and helped the imagination paint vivid scenery and pictures while reading.  I was intrigued from the very start of this novel, and found myself on a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns. The story revolves around a young priestess names Melaia, who has served at a temple since she was a tiny infant. She was extremely content with her life, and enjoyed serving the Most High at the temple. However, as the story unfolds, she finds herself in a struggle between good and evil, Angels and the Immortals, as she struggles to save a stairway to Heaven, and ultimately the whole world. As Melaia battles to save the world and find herself, she discovers who she really is and discovers a world filled with secrets, lies, and Angels. While the novel is definitely written for the young adult audience, I found it to be an excellent, entertaining and worthwhile read. I would definitely recommend this novel for any fan of fantasy, science fiction and young adult novels. It is a compelling start to what I am
sure will be an amazing series overall.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing group for this review.
